Rule number 76...

This must be the first Monday in months that it has not been either cloudy or rainy, what a great way to start a Monday! The Invictus coaching staff hopes you all effectively used your time off and dominated your final exams. Now that finals are done for most of you, we expect to see your faces back in the room! This is our last week over at Louis M. Klein Middle School, next week we will be at Harrison High School. Remember, the new practice schedule will be from 5-7pm Mondays and Wednesdays.

Strength training starts today @ CrossFit Westchester. You will need a parent with you to sign the waiver if you are a newbie to the gym. The class schedule can be found on the "schedule" page of the website.

Big thanks to all of the college wrestlers who have been stopping in to share their knowledge and helping out! We may have a surprise guest coming on Wednesday to run a clinic.

School is over. The road to glory starts NOW. Its time to make those dreams a reality. The only way to get their is to put in the time and hard work. Rule number 76...

Coach A.

"If you take shortcuts, you get cut short"

As promised, I am here with my Monday updates. We will be at Louis M. Klein Middle School for practice for the next two weeks. Starting Monday, June 28th we will be at HARRISON HIGH SCHOOL from 5-7pm. Hope the earlier schedule does not conflict with anything. We are still working on the 2nd location, and should have a clear answer for everyone by late next week.

Sports performance training starts on Monday, June 28th at CrossFit Westchester. As of right now, I will be holding two classes per day, 3-4pm and 8-9pm. I am willing to open up more classes if enough athletes are interested. I'm super excited about starting the training! I've got some cool workouts planned and its going to be an intense but fun experience. Remember, package deals can be found on the "store" page.

Don't forget to check out Coach Zurla's blog! Part 3 is up!

"I'm sorry it took me so long"

Finally, after weeks and weeks I have finally updated the website! I added a new “media” page, so check that out for pictures and videos. For future reference I will make a very conscious effort to update this blog every Sunday. With that being said, here is a summary of what has been going on:

First off, I would like to congratulate all of our athletes who wrestled at the Pop N’ Flo Duals in Lake Placid. It was an awesome tournament with some of the best teams in the country. The tournament was a great learning experience for both the wrestlers and the coaching staff. It was a good measuring stick for our wrestlers to see how they compete against some of the best competition in the country. As coaches, we realized things we need to work on and incorporate in practice to maximize the benefits for our wrestlers. Overall, it was a positive experience for everyone in attendance and we will continue to move forward. Below is a highlight video of the tournament.

Now with the summer approaching I am going to talk about our plans. Summer practice will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at HARRISON HIGH SCHOOL. I will update you on the exact date as soon as I can. We are working on our 2nd location in Northern Westchester, allowing Invictus wrestlers to wrestle up to 4x per week! Also, I will be running Sports Performance classes at CrossFit Westchester all summer. I encourage every wrestler to participate! We will be working on movements to make you stronger, faster, and more EXPLOSIVE. I am training several wrestlers right now who are making amazing gains in strength and power output. I GUAREENTEE you will gain an incredibly amount of strength with my training program. The classes will run Monday-Friday. I will be running 3 classes per day, but the exact times are still in the works. Check out the “store” page to view special combo deals for wrestling and lifting.
With school winding down, studying for finals and regents exams are a priority for our athletes. Here at Invictus, we not only strive for you to become a stellar athlete but also a scholar in the classroom. We have been talking about implementing progress reports to make sure students stay on track with their school work. Nowadays, you have to be more than a star athlete to get into college; good grades are now a MUST. Remember, anything can be achieved through HARD WORK, PRIDE, and DEDICATION.

Stay classy,
Coach Alayon

P.S. Can anyone guess what song is the title of the blog? I’ll give you a clue: it’s a lyric from one of my favorite bands!
